Photos Show Off What Could Be Apple's Larger iPhone 6

The iPhone 6 rumor mill is now so full of 3D-rendered and photoshopped mock-ups posing as the real thing that it's nearly impossible to tell which ones are real and which are fake. But occasionally, a set of images crop up that are so impressive, they demand attention — whether they turn out to be the real deal or not.
Such is the case with a set of images that appeared on a Taiwanese website called Mos Coatover the last few days, which reveal what appears to be the rumored 4.7-inch iPhone 6.
The images show off a newly designed iPhone (sans Apple logo) with a larger screen (longer and wider, putting it firmly into phablet territory) and a thinner form factor. In fact, when placed on top of the already ultra-slim iPhone 5S, the supposed iPhone 6 looks almost one-third thinner.
The device also features rounder edges — not just on the phone's corners, but on the screen as well — giving it a slightly bulbous look. A Touch ID button is also present, more prominently accented with a gold border (currently only present on the gold version of the iPhone 5S).

No iOS screen images are shown in the photo set, which shows the phone on the street and in office settings (presumably to preemptively rebut those who might claim these are photoshopped images), a detail that indicates that if this really is the iPhone 6, it's probably a dummy unit (read: not operational).

Further adding to the "dummy unit" probability are the jagged edges on the device's headphone and power port, indications of early an prototype, or an amazingly well done mock-up that skimped on that final polish by not sanding off the rough edges.

Also, if you look closely at the headphone jack, what at first appears to be a hole seems to be blocked off just underneath the surface by a layer of black material. The same appears to be the case for the front-facing camera, which looks like it is covered by a grey circle, rather than featuring a camera lens.

Nevertheless, adding to the device's seeming authenticity are its smaller details, including what appears to be an Apple Lightning connector port and an on/off button and speaker grill similar to that of the iPhone 5S. However, the device's volume buttons depart from the round aesthetic we've become accustomed to since the iPhone 4, returning to a design reminiscent of theiPhone 3GS.
The handlers of the would-be iPhone 6 also dunk the device into a puddle of water to show off its waterproof design, but since the device is never turned on, the test doesn't really have much demonstrative impact.

To really show off the supposed iPhone 6's looks, the site puts it side-by-side next to the 4-inch iPhone 5S and the 5-inch HTC One M8. Positioned next to those two phones, the device — accented by black bands that may be new antennas — looks like it may hit the phablet sweet spot some Apple fans have been asking for.

Of course, we probably won't know how real these images are until August, when the iPhone 6 is rumored to debut.
